Windsor Terrace may be the best place in Brooklyn to raise kids. Parents have several quality public, parochial and private schools to choose from, as well as a wealth of enrichment programs for all ages (see our directory).

The wide, leafy streets of our community are clean and safe, and there are several beautiful
playgrounds. Prospect Park--with its ballfields, picnic areas, sledding hills, and nature trails--is never more than a 10-minute walk from anywhere in the neighborhood. In addition to the soccer and baseball leagues in the Parade Grounds and the Park, there is the Holy Name Fathers' Guild, whose athletic program serves over 500 neighborhood kids of all faiths.

For quiet time, the Windsor Terrace branch of the
Brooklyn Public Library has a full schedule of  storytimes, book clubs and special activities and events.

We are also fortunate to have a
horse stable that offers pony rides to kids for $1, a popular Italian ices stand, and even a movie theater for rainy days.

Every season brings with it wonderful kid-friendly events, including sledding in the park, the
Irish-American Parade, Easter egg hunts, PS 154's Spring Fling,  the pee wee races at the Dolan Run, Celebrate Brooklyn, and, of course, Halloween, with the Spooky Walk in the park, Bingo at Shepherd's Hall and, best of all, Trick-or-Treating! And if you should ever run out of things to do in our neighborhood, the Heart of Brooklyn--our borough's cultural hub--is just a ten-minute bus ride away.
